Our Pastor

Introducing The Reverend Dr. Joseph P. Lee, Jr.

The Reverend Dr. Joseph P. Lee, Jr., a native of Richmond, Virginia, is the 17th Pastor of The Historic Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk, Virginia, where he has served since June 2008. Dr. Lee has dedicated himself to the task of helping to transform an historic church toward 21st Century ministry through efforts of preaching and teaching relevant messages for today's generation. He firmly believes that God's message has  not changed. Yet, due to the tremendous challenges we face today, as a 21st Century church we have a greater responsibility, and therefore need to make a greater commitment to share the gospel with the world.

Dr. Lee is the former Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lanexa, Virginia (New Kent County) where he served faithfully and successfully for more than 13 years. He has also served as Hospital Chaplain for the Cumberland Children's Hospital in New Kent and provided exceptional leadership throughout the county, while engaged in various collaborative efforts with local and state leaders. Dr. Lee believes that training our youth today will ensure a brighter future for us all.

Dr. Lee has prepared himself for such a time as this through education, and he has earned numerous degrees. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Richmond, E. Claiborne Robins, School of Business; a Bachelor of Theology and Master of Divinity from the Richmond Virginia Seminary; a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University, Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology; and a Doctor in Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Lee believes that education is a door opener for opportunity as well as achievement. He continues to study to show himself approved unto God.

Dr. Lee is married to the former Ms. Kimberly Dorothea Eddleton, and they have three sons; Joseph III, Jonathan, and Joshua. He and his family have unselfishly committed themselves to the service of the Lord. His favorite scripture is Matthew 28: 19-20, and he has accepted his personal call to go, therefore, and continue to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world!
