Know Who You're Praying To:
"For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live" (1 Corinthians 8:5–6).
Pastor Notes: We must be sure that we are praying to the God of the Bible, creator of the heavens and earth.
Study The Bible:
'Earnestly study to show yourself approved to God, a workman unashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth" (2 Timothy 2:15)
Pastor Notes: Diligent study of the Word of God will increase your faith and allow you to grow in grace and the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. What we know about Jesus is what His word reveals to us about Him.
Repent of Your Sins:
"Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear" (Isaiah 59:1–2).
Pastor Notes: True repentance involves a total surrender of one's mind, heart and will to God. It also requires the acceptance of the death of His Son in payment for sin.
Love like Christ loved:
"No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us." (1 John 4:12)
Pastor Notes: The test of true discipleship is still how we treat one another; for in this we can tell how we treat Christ.
