Our History

While diligently working in a rapidly growing church in Columbus, GA, God gave Dr. Ann Hardman a passion for the city of Asheville, North Carolina. She began to intercede that God's plan would be fulfilled in the city. As she began to pray that God would send or raise up someone with an uncompromising word from the Lord to lead Ashevillians into the power and authority of God, her passion grew more intense. God began to minister to her concerning the city of Asheville. In her obedience to God's instructions, River of Life was birthed in October 1999.

Dr. Hardman began her journey driving a total of ten hours round trip between Columbus and Asheville in one day trips. As she continued to trust in God for her direction concerning the church in Asheville, He led her to a warehouse on Haywood Street. The first service was held on Wednesday, October 9, 1999. With only eight people in attendance for the first service, it was a powerful night of praise, worship, and emphasis on the Word of God.

River of Life has grown rapidly since that first service to approximately 650 in attendance each week on Wednesdays and Sundays. The rapid growth caused the ministry to move from an old warehouse to its present location, the former West Asheville Assembly of God on Haywood Road one and a half years later. God's favor has been upon the ministry since the beginning: from the warehouse to the present location, and very soon its future home, the dome.

We look forward with great expectations to the numerous souls that will come to know Jesus Christ as savior!
