Our Membership

Membership is Belonging.
At Anderson, membership allows you to continually grow in understanding, while finding opportunities for application in your life. You will strengthen your relationship with God and build relationships with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Membership is Commitment.
Becoming part of the AMC family is committing to God's team. The Bible tells us that God wants us to encourage each other, live in agreement, and show others by example what it means to be a Christian.

Here are the basic steps to joining the Anderson Memorial Church family. If you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact our church office at (313)3661400.

Step 1: Indicate Interest – You can express you interest in joining AMC by
speaking to a member or calling the church office.
Step 2: Attend Membership Class – Our membership is offered periodically on Sunday mornings, at 9:30am, for 4 week sessions. During these
sessions, many topics are covered to convey AMC's history, core values,
ministries, and responsibilities for members.
Step 3:
Meet with a minister – This is an opportunity for you to meet with a
minister, ask any further questions you may have, and give your
testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.

At Anderson we have four requirements for membership:
1. A personal profession of Christ as Lord and Savior.
2. Baptism by immersion as a public symbol of one's faith.
3. Completion of the membership class.
4. A signed commitment to abide by Anderson's membership covenant.

We believe that God has sent you to this ministry for a reason. We endeavor to do all we can to help you discover your spiritual gifts and talents, and help you figure out where you fit within the ministry.
With any group or organization, there come certain expectations. At Anderson Memorial Church, there are a few things we expect from all members.

Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and having been baptized and being in agreement with Anderson Memorial Church's statements, strategy and structure, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the Anderson Church family. In doing so, commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:

1. I will protect the unity of my church (Romans 14:19? Romans 15:5? 1 Peter 1:22?

. . . by acting in love toward other members.
. . . by refusing to gossip.
. . . by following the leaders.
2. I will share the responsibility of my church (1 Thessalonians 1:2? Luke 14:23?
Romans 15:7)
. . . by praying for its growth.
. . . by inviting the unchurched to attend.
. . . by warmly welcoming those who visit.
3. I will serve the ministry of my church (1 Peter 4:10? Ephesians 4:1112?
Philippians 2:34,
. . . by discovering my gifts and talents.
. . . by being equipped to serve by my pastor.
. . . by developing a servant's heart.
4. I will support the testimony of my church (Hebrews 10:25? Philippians 1:27? 1
